From my earliest memories I can remember with such warmth, happiness (and detail still!) my Mom playing the piano and my sister (2 years younger) and I RUNNING to the piano to sing with her.
Mom was not an expert pianist, far from it she would admit, but it did not matter in the least, we LOVED to sing beside her as she picked out the tunes. Simple songs that taught lasting lessons in their joyful lyrics, but the lesson I felt most of all, standing there beside her and my sister singing, was LOVE.
The past couple of weeks, I’ve heard the piano going (it is always going here) and my ZoieGrace suddenly singing her heart out beside it. I’ve been upstairs too busy with Babies to see what was going on, then my brother showed me this video.
It makes tears come to my eyes even now to see a joyful scene replayed from my youth as my older daughter Emily plays the piano for Gracie, who is singing her heart out, and is soon joined by Anna jumping in on the fun action, then Clara. Even the dog has to join in at the end!
Singing, celebrate it in your family today.
