Spring is almost here!! And at the first hint of warmth and sunshine my husband suggested soccer and flying a kite at the park.
I must admit I wasn’t that enthusiastic- mud – I was thinking- and cold- and babies to keep careful watch on, but seeing the children’s sheer delight at his suggestion for family home evening we bundled up right and headed off to the nearest park.
I can’t even tell you how glad I am we did. I only have pictures of the heart but I wish I could share them with you:
-daddy and big sisters trading turns helping little Clara with her beautiful birthday butterfly kite, running through the field with joy the streamers fluttering gracefully behind them,
-our little twins, almost 17 months old now, “running”, which is a little walk-jog with bow-legs, across the field squealing in excitement with arms stretched out to catch their big sisters and their ball. They were thrilled with this new-found freedom! As were all of us after this long winter. It was easy to Sarah thought she was big as anyone of her sisters out there playing soccer and Adelynn, thrilled, cheered her sister on!
-All my beautiful, individual girls and their super handsome, young-looking (with a hoodie and new haircut) Dad running, laughing, and shouting in excitement out on the soccer field together.
It’s always been one of our family favorites but made especially sweet and appreciated because of the long months indoors. Wonderful that spring always comes again!!
And Phewph! We made it through another April Fool’s day – the key to not feeling the fool? Laughter!! Good remedy for any embarrassing, surprising, frightening, or especially silly moment!
I HAD to show my husband and children that they are the most important people in my life by playing a few pranks on them!
First, what to do? After I racked my brain for about 1 minute for ideas I turned to the all-time greatest Mom-idea resource center ever- Pinterest. Search “April fool’s ideas”- there they are – I love life and all the great people that share and make my life so much better!!! Thanks EVERYBODY!!
It took me about 2 minutes more to rack pinterest’s brain and find 3 ideas I knew 1) I had on hand, 2) would really get a reaction out of this Fam and 3) would take me less than a couple minutes to prepare! (I have another birthday and big weekend coming up you know- and laundry and cleaning and baby twins… Well, you get the picture!)
And here we have it: April fool’s day success- yes!
Cottonball covered chocolates for an after school, appetizing snack.
Fruit punch that won’t pour for dinner drink (because it’s jello – kids really loved the treat as much or more than the trick on that one!)
And, OK, I know it’s gross but somebody totally missed!!!
You’d think with a Dr Daddy and all the diapers around here this wouldn’t phase us- but I knew my kids would REALLY gross out at this one when they came in from school, hugged me, then needed a bathroom break! My brother was mortified with big laughs by this one too! He even responded, “CaMarie, it’s so not like you!”
Mmmmmm, well, maybe I got carried away with this prankster thing but a little wet and shredded-up toilet paper roll, squished in my hand really went a long way when it comes to mortified laughter here! Still laughing about it :-).
Well, fun day and on to the next- Kate’s bday is coming – what cake does one make for a bright and lively 13 yr old girl! Tie-dye of course.
Enjoy a little fun in your family today!!
Lots o’ Love (it’s not a trick), the Hoffman Crew
